Concussion Basics
What is a Concussion?

A concussion, or mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), is caused by an impact or jolt to the head that disrupts normal brain function and creates a temporary cellular energy crisis within the brain. Concussions are frequently overlooked because standard imaging studies are often normal, making specialized clinical expertise essential for accurate diagnosis, targeted treatment, and safe recovery management to minimize complications and support optimal neurological recovery outcomes over time.

How it may impact you?
Symptoms may include headache, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, mental fogginess, anxiety or increased stress, feeling overwhelmed, attention and memory difficulties, vision-related concerns, and sleep disruption. Symptoms can vary significantly from person to person and may interfere with daily functioning, including work, school, exercise, sports participation, and other routine activities. In some cases, symptoms may worsen with physical exertion, cognitive activity, screen use, or busy environments, making proper evaluation, treatment, and guided return-to-sport decisions essential for a safe recovery.
We provide a targeted, individualized approach to brain injury care by identifying specific profiles to guide precise, active treatment and help restore optimal brain function. We can also work alongside your existing providers or athletic trainers to support your recovery and guide you through each step of the process (Learn More). Our goal is to streamline the recovery process, reduce unnecessary delays, and provide clear, evidence-informed direction for safe return to school, work, sport, and/or daily activities.
